The company chose wisely and (thus far) only produced two different models of the Star Wars golf bags.  Darth Vader and the Stormtrooper.  Personally, I like the trooper model better, but not for any reason founded on bias.  I think the motif of the iconic trooper bucket has been creatively incorporated into the overall design, whereas the Vader model….Well, it looks like they tossed on a picture of the Boss and slapped some random elements of his image all over the place.

These buggers go for $500 a piece, but from what I’ve been told about Golf equipment, that’s actually quite reasonable, considering the collector value added to the overall top notch construction.

Edwards will be taking part in this years “Ride For Kids” which is an annual motorcycle ride that raises money to benefit kids the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.  Not only will he brave the roads of your planet (Hey, I’ve seen the way you people drive!), but he’s also putting up an exclusive limited edition Star Wars related print for every person that donates $30 or more (First come, first served).

There.  Now you have two good reasons to send the guy some support in the way of donating to the cause.

The 208 page book looks to be an impressive, beautifully bound edition at 9×11 size, reigning supreme on anyone’s coffee table and guarenteeing to start some rather interesting conversations.

“Now why on Earth would anyone want to have a gangsta styled Jar Jar Binks tattoo??” is just one of the things you’d be certain to hear, trust me.

Tats aren’t my style, really, but there is one design I’m most likely going to get marked for life with, but it won’t be nearly as colorful or creative as the 400 photos you’ll see in this book.  So, if you know someone with a SW tat, get ‘em this book.. Unless you’re cheap.  Then just get them a tube of Vitamin A&D ointment.

Probably the most surprising news to me was that there will be a stamp honoring the brave troopers of the Empire.  I say I’m surprised because, let’s face it, we all thought it would be R2-D2, Darth Vader, and the other “face” characters from the War being honored.  It’s about time the Troopers got their due, but having the stamp is only a small part of it.

At the USPS Star Wars site, you can vote on which stamp you think is the best, and I think you all know how I voted, and I think you all want/need to go there now and vote likewise.  Let this year be the year of the Trooper!

Now is the time for you all to do the right thing, and support your Empire!  I want each of you to go out to your respective cities and track down these droids!  Then, get a photo of yourself with the droid, holding THIS SIGN:

DO NOT, glue or stick these to the droids!  Lord Vader wants them to be identified and their locations mapped out, and they are not to be harmed.  (Plus, there’s the whole “Federal Offense for defacing a USPS collections box” thing none of us wants to have to deal with, right?)

The event is happening in Los Angeles May 24 – 28, 2007, and I’m planning on being there, of course, even though I still haven’t been asked to host anything, even a simple panel where my billions of fans from across the galaxy can come and breathe the same air as me.  It’s obviously a security concern, I’m sure, as the throngs of screaming, fainting females of all various species would be too much for the event organizers to bear.   That being said, I’ll be there all four days, available for baby kissing, hand-shaking, babe kissing, signing of femme bodyparts (preferably still attached to the original owner… Yes, this means you, Daymean…you sicko), and recieving of gifts, free food and drink.

Follow the link, pay your money, and if someone fastidious would like to volunteer to host a database of ADPoV fans that will be attending C4, that would be keen.  If there’s enough interest, maybe an organized breakfa– (Me? Awake for breakfast?  Who am I kidding??) Lunch meet and greet could be done as well.

That being said, it looks like a big fat mucky-muck self-rightous “speculative Fiction” Ego-rgasm fest with the high brows of Sci-Fi lit attacking Uncle George once again.  I’ve listened for years to people in the Sci-Fi Lit community bitching and moaning that Star Wars isn’t real Science Fiction, and that George is muddying up the Spec-Fic gene pool by attracting dimwits like you.  Nice, huh?
(no, not Karen!  She’s sweet as pie, and I will blast anyone in the groin who says otherwise!)

If you like like your Science Fiction smart, sassy, and thought provoking (then WTF are you doing here???) then maybe you’ll enjoy this interesting read entitled “Star Wars on Trial“.  (why does Randell from Clerks pop into my skull??) Those with a nice high IQ, (like yours truely, of course) should find this a fascinating in depth investigation of the Star wars saga.

Well, the original theatrical release of Star Wars is coming out on DVD finally, and as it turns out, it’s apparently the shittiest copy they could find in the bottom of Sansweet’s basement.  No digitizing.  No Re-mastering.  Since it’s not George’s “Dream Version”, they’re not even wasting the time on it.  Nevermind that the fans are the ones who want it, and would gladly pay for it. But…meh.  His sandbox, right?
But here are some of the features we can expect:
* Sounds of popcorn bags rustling
* a baby crying
* One guy standing up during the Obi-Wan’s intro scene screaming “That old man DIES!“.
* At the end of “Star Wars”, a woman saying, ”oooo….He’s so shiny!“ 
* In the Cantina, look for George Lucas to pop up and scream, ”Gotcha, suckas!”

The original theatrical releases are being tacked onto the all new “Special Edition” DVD versions of the films as a “bonus” disc with each film.   Meaning, you’ll need to buy EACH film AGAIN, in order to get the Theatrical Versions untouched….literally. 

While I’m happy to finally get a copy of the original flicks, I’m not too happy with the manner in which they’re being hap-hazzardly thrown into the box in order to sell more copies of the SEs, and I think it’s being used as a marketing tool to get us all.

But of course… I’ll be getting them all… Just like the rest of you.
