This past weekend was “swoon-eriffic”! I got to spend some quality time with the brilliant and beautiful Karen Traviss while she paid a visit to the Dune Sea.
Now, I shouldn’t even have to explain to you who the Trooper Goddess is, but okay, in case there’s some kids from the short freighter looking in, she is the author of the phenomenal “Star Wars: Republic Commando” series of books, as well as “Bloodlines” & “Sacrifice” from the “Legacy of the Force” series of books right now.  She is, and has been, my favorite author for years now, because she gets “it”. She understands us Troopers, the military, and most importantly that in the Star Wars universe, the two are the same thing. She also understands that the Trooper is just as human as anyone else, and she displays this in her storytelling. She’s also the lady who gave us the language of Mando’a, which shows yet another level of her sheer brilliance.
She and I leaned against the rail of a balcony for hours chatting and drinking “Arrogant Blaster Ale”, about which her exacts words are, and I quote:
“Damn fine brew. *Damn* fine.”
Yup… That’s going on the next batch of bottles, I think. When a sophisticated and worldly Lady like Karen Traviss says something good about your Ale, you brag about it, kids, and bragging about it I am!
It was one of the absolute best nights I’ve had in many, many moons, and I hope there will be more moonlit (or in our case, Death Star lit) rendezvous in our future. I am forever yours, my Trooper Goddess.
You point them out, and they go over the balcony, guaranteed.

Excellent!
her republic commando books are primo….
i dig the Mando’a language as well.
