No really… How can you have a trial on Star Wars without my opinion on it??? Karen, baby… You never told me!! You an I could have been the Trooper “One Two Punch” to thier guts! I’m sure you showed them slack jaws though, darlin’. But still….My heart is broken.
That being said, it looks like a big fat mucky-muck self-rightous “speculative Fiction” Ego-rgasm fest with the high brows of Sci-Fi lit attacking Uncle George once again. I’ve listened for years to people in the Sci-Fi Lit community bitching and moaning that Star Wars isn’t real Science Fiction, and that George is muddying up the Spec-Fic gene pool by attracting dimwits like you. Nice, huh?
(no, not Karen! She’s sweet as pie, and I will blast anyone in the groin who says otherwise!)
If you like like your Science Fiction smart, sassy, and thought provoking (then WTF are you doing here???) then maybe you’ll enjoy this interesting read entitled “Star Wars on Trial“. (why does Randell from Clerks pop into my skull??) Those with a nice high IQ, (like yours truely, of course) should find this a fascinating in depth investigation of the Star wars saga.
The rest of you…. here’s something more your speed.

I’m on it. If you want a Sith Master Debator (heh), I’m your girl. I can’t wait to pick it apart.
The Cantina book might be nice for TD-0000.5, though.

I have fond memories of my Star Wars pop-up book from the 70s. . .

whats wrong with star wars pop up books? havent you ever wandered into the deep abyss of Han Solo’s eyes? or wondered about the inner hell and pain that slug lookin thing feels after bein teased all it’s life? It’s all so much more understandable when they pop out of the book!

I remember getting paper cuts in all the wrong places due to pop ups.

I could have sworn I told you about this one when I found out about it.
I heard about it from Matt Stover while attending WFC 2004 in Madison WI. I even walked into the middle of a detailed SW Universe discussion between him and John C. Wright, while myself and Glenn Yeffeth just kinda sat there listening, in amused amazement. For over half an hour. I just wish I’d gotten there sooner and recorded all of it.
Do you have the book yet?

TD-0013, my noble brother - I defend the honour of the GFFA wherever disrespect rears its misinformed head. If anyone disses the Empire, then they’re looking down the business end not only of my custom Verp but also of my brand new spiffissimo DC-17m. Blast some respect into ‘em, that’s what I say.
One of the nicer things about also being in the literary SF camp myself for half the working week is that I can leap the fence with my trusty vibroblade and gleefully demonstrate how good SW has been for my own “real SF” sales.
Star Wars is good ‘n’ healthy for SF all round. A lot of SF readers came to the genre through it, praise Lucas. It also sells more books than all of us fancy lit folk laid end to end (which is probably an activity banned in most states anyway.)
And if SW wasn’t on the shelves, it wouldn’t mean more room for allegedly worthier books. Because those books aren’t being kept off the shelves because of lack of space. They’re not there because not enough people buy them. Fact of retail life.

Damn, damn, damn….osik and meh’shab! I just did an innocent clicky or two in my tea break and I stumble upon Summer’s recommendation of Ulysses software.
I’m Word and Excel kind of gal myself (what, like you you don’t routinely use spreadsheets and projections while you’re writing a novel?) but that looks worth a try. The shiny version of Word that I have — all-singing-all-dancing-you-can’t-bend-it — could launch the bloody space shuttle but it’s getting to be a pain in the shebs to actually write and organise 150K-word books in it. I’ll be checking out Ulysses - thanks!

Right on, sister! I knew you’d be defending us! My faith in “Trooper Momma” will *never* falter!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have an alter to build.

Hey if it weren’t for SW books I’d still be stuck reading Trek novels! Actually one of the things I love about the literary SW genre is how everything ties together nicely and not some mish-mosh of splitting timelines like in other genres. Not that there aren’t fine authors in other areas of sci-fi. I’m definitely curious about this piece of work though, it’ll definitely be on my list of things to read.
